Kurt Alexander’s artistic journey spans over a decade, with a profound focus on ceramic craftmanship. As a seasoned ceramicist specialising in bench casting and mould making techniques, he incorporates an artistic approach to creativity in traditional methods. Having dedicated 12 years to Wade Ceramics, he honed his abilities beginning with his apprenticeship as a bench caster and working through different areas to gain experience and knowledge of each process in ceramic manufacturing.
Kurt’s work intertwines traditional and modern techniques, creating pieces that echo the mastery of his craft, Using the knowledge passed down to him through years of practice by traditional potters in Stoke-on-Trents historic potbanks.
Kurt is dedicated to crafting unique ceramic pieces that embody his commitment to sustainability and marine conservation. Kurt’s journey is rooted in the desire to create art that respects and reflects the beauty of our oceans.
Inspired by marine life, Kurt takes his passion for reef keeping into his creative process. Using ceramics to tell the story of the bleaching crisis of the coral reefs and the loss of colour and beauty that will be gone forever if we don’t start change.
Kurt has created range of work that focuses on sustainability and a reduced carbon footprint, by pit firing and using organic sustainable materials to finish his ceramic pieces.
